Hong Kong has a variety of museums that are near all of the other sights to see in Hong Kong . You will not have to travel far from Ocean Terminal and Harbour City to find great museums. Everyone should visit museums in different cities to get an idea of the history and culture of the city and country. Hong Kong features museums on a variety of different subjects and areas including medical technology, the railways of Hong Kong, and the Museum of Tea Ware . From galleries of Chinese Art to interactive learning museums, you will find something for the whole family.
The Hong Kong Museum of Art is the city's largest museum. This museum features ancient Chinese art from the Han, Ming and Qing dynasties. There are many excellent art exhibits throughout this museum. Hong Kong features a delightful mix of cuisine. You would expect all of the cuisine to be Asian or at least Asian influenced, however, there is a lot of variation and a lot to choose from. From traditional Chinese to Mexican and French, you will have the opportunity to try a variety of cuisine while visiting Hong Kong.
The Chinese restaurants tend to be loud and noisy. They may be decorated with colorful lanterns but don't expect them to be anything special. The Chinese are all about the food. Families and friends also like to gather in the local Chinese restaurants, as their apartments tend to be too small for entertaining. Therefore, the Chinese like to eat in large groups where everybody orders a dish and usually an extra dish as well. All the dishes are placed in the center of the table and everybody shares. Nightlife in Hong Kong is pretty reserved when compared to Tokyo and Bangkok . Many people go to clubs for socializing but most of their entertaining takes place in the large Chinese restaurants. Hong Kong has many festivals throughout the year and Chinese opera is still popular. The bar and nightclub scene is not as popular as it once was. There are still discos and dancing but they are not as popular as they are in the U.S. or in European cities. Kowloon has a concentrated nightlife and features many bars that are open to the streets. Some also have tables outside so you can sit and have a nice drink. Most bars charge cover charges and drinks can be expensive. Some bars, however, feature great happy hours.
